Today stress has become part and parcel of our lives. It has effectively taken a toll on our various schedules in different dimensions. Some are even of the opinion that we cannot run from or evade stress. As we adjust to the ever evolving world we live in today, the normal damages by use on our bodies produces stress. Aside coming in physical forms, stress also comes in emotional forms as well. This can produce positive and negative reactions or feelings. In other words, stress can be positive or negative. Take for instance, a job promotion could make you strive for more and set higher goals for yourself. The normal negative effect stress has especially during the demise of a beloved one. This could generate a chain of negative feelings and reactions of anger and frustration that could lead to health hazards like headaches and sleeplessness (Insomnia). Let’s take a look on some ways of managing the stress in your life.
Some people tend to experience low or even non-existent stress, which they tend to live boring lives, unimportant stress could act like a sedative. In most cases, people tend to be buoyed by the high expectations and deadlines set by supervisors at work which could lead to hard work and excellent performance. The aim here is not to eliminate stress from our lives, and create a more conducive atmosphere to live with.
There is not a favorable stress level that applies to everyone; the optimum level of stress varies with everyone and besides age is a deciding factor. Some tasks could be a kill-joy for an individual, but it could be a source of joy for another. So if there is a stressful task lying ahead of you, you could do yourself a favor by finding a person who enjoys it, then ask for help or discover what makes the task less or not stressful. It could open up your mind and improving your skills and potentials by stretching yourself. We all have our in-born gifts, by stretching; you can move that mountain of stress before you.
The first step is by identifying the various stresses in your life and where they come from. If a routine task is particularly stressful, be wary of it. Do not ignore those factors responsible for stress in your life. Ignoring them could only further worsen your situation and deprive you of a change in your life. As soon as these factors responsible for stress are discovered, find out how you actually respond to them, how you well-being and body reacts to them. Do you go ill, dejected?
The next step is for you to know what can change. Can you avoid these factors completely? If you cannot completely avoid them, is there a way of minimizing its frequency. Stress could come as a result of over-reacting or sudden impulse of fear which only worsens the situation.
Learn to react positively. Stay in charge of your emotions. Try breathing slowly and deeply to convey a message to your body system that all is well and there is no room for panic. There is also a great need for you to understand where your stress comes from and learn to manage it effectively.
