People have started looking for alternatives to tamiflu as a treatment for seasonal and swine flu, because health warnings have began circulating about the drug. There are things we can do to make our bodies more able to fight off the flu while research is being done into other medicinal treatments for the flu. Most importantly, we need to boost the immune system so that our bodies are able to resist and kill the viruses that cause flu.

When there is a flu pandemic, including seasonal flu, we can take supplements for added strength against influenza. Echinacea and Vitamin C are effective in strengthening our immune function, as are other natural ingredients like garlic and liquorice. Taking a supplement that contains a little bit of everything are the best supplements that boost the immune system available on the market.

As well as making us look more attractive, exercise makes us fitter so our bodies are stronger and fitter. Being stronger means that our bodies are more able to fight off the flu without the need to use medicines and drugs, we will simply be strong enough to do it ourselves.

Eating a healthier diet can never be bad, and at times when we may be more susceptible to flu, we should increase our intake of vitamins and minerals. We should be taking in more fruit and vegetables on a daily basis, at least our % a day. It is important that we keep eating enough protein so our muscles grow strong but reduce the amount of bad fats in our diet. It is essential however that we still eat food with good fats in, as this will be a store of nutrients if we get ill.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the only way we can defend ourselves against seasonal and pandemic flu including the H1N1 virus known as Swine Flu.
