We all tend to think that the easiest way to lose weight is to go on a diet. Although it is not advisable to go on a crash diet, the weight loss process definitely accelerates itself if the diet is modified into a balanced healthy one. One of the ways to do this is to rotate the amount and type of carbohydrate you are consuming each day.
Our body senses a pattern in our daily routine and adjusts its functions accordingly. Although this is good in some cases, as far as the effectiveness of a diet is concerned, if the body gets “used” to a form of diet, weight loss rate in the beginning may be high but this generally tends to slow down considerably after some time. This is where carb cycling comes in, in order to aid weight loss.
All those diet plans that advise you to avoid carbohydrates as part of your daily meal are grossly misleading. Carbohydrates form an integral part of our nutrition and are needed by every body type to perform certain functions effectively. Depriving the body of it completely will only lead to what may be termed as withdrawal symptoms.
At first, the body rapidly start losing weight, but once it gets used to the low carbohydrate diet cycle, it will start slowing the metabolism down so that the body requires less energy to function.
A slow metabolism works in the opposite direction of a successful weight loss plan. In order to maintain a high rate of metabolism confuse your body by changing the level of carbohydrate that you consume daily. It is also helpful to change the type of carbohydrate in such a case. Therefore, if your body is used to two cups of white rice every day, make it one cup on every alternate day along with two slices of brown bread. Try to switch to whole grain (brown) carbs instead of the white ones. The former type is healthier due to their high fiber content.
Make sure you eat all your carbs for the day while the sun is up in the sky. Our metabolism lowers itself considerably after sundown. Therefore, any carbohydrate you consume after sunset will have a tendency to be transformed into stored fat.
Also make sure that you eat small amounts of food. Instead of having three or four heavy meals, change this into six or seven small meals. This keeps the metabolism working continuously, helping in losing weight very fast.
Therefore, starving your body means that you are convincing your metabolism that it needs to function on a lower level of energy. Rotating your carbs will prevent any such indication of specific pattern. This will make the metabolism work continuously in search for a pattern. Your job is to not let that happen.
It has been seen that people who follow this method of carbohydrate rotation lose weight faster and in higher amounts than those who simply avoid consuming carbohydrates.
