Are you a family member still urging and battling with other members of the household to quit their smoking habits? Sick of them saying they will try to stop smoking, sick of your clothes and your skin smelling constantly of smoke even though you are not a smoker yourself?

Well for you, there may be some light at the end of the smoky tunnel. In fact there seems to be much light for all concerned, smokers and non smokers alike.

Electronic cigarette companies claim they have an item that looks like a cigarette feels like a cigarette, smokes like a cigarette but doesnt harm you like a cigarette! In fact the list of claims is nothing short of remarkable, of which just a few are:

No carcinogenic/cancerous toxins

Legal to smoke in public

No tobacco

Proven to work with smokers

80% cheaper than real cigarettes

Bold claims indeed! So what is this amazing sounding contraption?

According to Wikipedia an e-cigarette (or electronic cigarette) is a mechatronic version of a cigarette.

The device takes the form of a tiny rod which is slightly longer than a normal cigarette. The mouthpiece of the device contains a replaceable cartridge filled with liquid. The main substances contained in the liquid are nicotine and propylene glycol. When the user inhales through the device, the air flow is detected by a sensor. A microprocessor then activates an atomizer or nebulizer which injects tiny droplets of the liquid into the flowing air and vaporises the nicotine. This produces a vapour mist which is inhaled by the user. The addition of propylene glycol to the liquid makes the mist better resemble normal cigarette smoke. The microprocessor also activates an orange LED at the tip to simulate real smoking.

It is also claimed that this interesting cigarette replacement, is successful in weaning smokers off real cigarettes, healthily reducing the amount of nicotine intake with replaceable cartridges carrying different levels of nicotine with the ultimate goal being a nicotine free cartridge.

If proven then surely this could be the future of smoking? Smokers will still be able to satisfy their craving and begin to quit smoking at the same time, not to mention being free to smoke in public once more! Meanwhile non smokers will not be subjected to the poisonous chemicals when their friends and family light up.

If it were to catch on this really could be an exciting and healthy alternative and even contribute to a cleaner, greener environment!

James Johnson, answers some of the questions about the electronic cigarette.
Could this be a much healthier, more cost effective way to smoke and help quit smoking

A new study reports that taking certain painkillers can lower the levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA) which can cause problems with the PSA screening tests used for prostate cancer detection.

In this study of more than 1000 men who took nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs called (NSAIDs), levels of PSA were about 10% lower than for men who didn’t take these over-the-counter painkillers.

NSAIDs include aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Naproxen (Aleve) and many others.

This was also seen to some degree for acetaminophen (Tylenol), which is not an NSAID but is not as much of a concern. (acetaminophen is in another class of drugs called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (pain reducers).

It is not known whether this has anything to do with preventing prostate cancer but might be important to note that it can affect your PSA test. Your PSA reading may actually be higher if you are not using painkillers but it doesn’t mean that it has any protective effect.

You may want to let your doctor know if you are taking any over-the-counter painkillers whether it is Tylenol or the NSAIDs. It also leads one to believe what else might affect your PSA level. Does this mean that PSA tests are not reliable? That it may be solely dependent on what you are taking in the way of medications, medicines or drugs? Or anything else that you’re ingesting.

Over recent months it seems that the PSA test has become more and unreliable. Yet many men worry themselves to death if they have a high PSA reading and certainly it can be an indication that something is amiss or that even prostate cancer is present. So it cannot be ignored.

Medications used to treat an enlarged prostate have also been known to affect PSA levels.

If you get your PSA test from your regular doctor he will know what medications he is prescribing for you and but he will not know what you are taking that is over the counter. So you may want to let your doctor know or discuss this study.

There may be new trials to explore why the PSA levels are lower and their relationship to prostate cancer. But for now that is not going to happen. It could take many years and many men to do it. So it is not something that’s going to happen anytime soon.

So as it stands now aspirin or NSAIDs as or Tylenol should not be taken to prevent prostate cancer. They may actually be masking prostate cancer symptoms which would not be good. So that is something to think about also.

If you are scheduled for a PSA screening test make sure to ask your doctor if you should avoid taking any of your medications, over-the-counter painkillers or prescription painkillers or any other medications anytime before the test. That’s one good way to help get a better reading, that is, IF we can rely on the PSA test to help diagnose prostate cancer.

Does stress in your life cause development of cancer? That may depend on what your eating. A terrible diet on top of stress can not be a good thing. I am not here being “chicken little” and shouting the sky is falling, but we are living through an extremely stressful period of history.

Hundreds of studies have documented how stress impacts our immune systems and ability to fight off invading organisms. This study goes a long way toward documenting the link between stress and cancer. The implications for further research are huge.

Without getting technical, certain hormones increase when the body is effected by stress. Basically, these hormones can promote the growth of the hormone norepinephrine. Norepinephrine has the ability to induce factors that are believed to promote cancer of pancreatic duct epithelial cells.

Norepinephrine is a neurotransmitter that is similar to adrenaline. These hormones act together to produce heart rate and blood pressure increases among other biochemical actions to launch us into our natural defense mode, described as fight or flight. Chronic high levels of stress result in chronic high levels of norepinephrine and adrenaline.

We are living through an extremely stressful period of history. Hundreds of studies have documented how stress impacts our immune systems and ability to fight off invading organisms. This study goes a long way toward documenting the link between stress and cancer. The implications for further research are huge.

Based on theses results, the researchers performed further testing to see if dietary agents sulforaphane and resveratrol can inhibit norepinephrine-mediated increases in cell proliferation.

Sulforaphane is a compound that can be obtained by eating cruciferous vegetables such as brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, bok choy, kale, collards, kohlrabi, mustard, turnip, radish, rocket, and watercress.

If eating healthy amounts of cruciferous vegetables does not appeal to you, try adding broccoli sprouts to a sandwich or salad. Broccoli sprouts don’t have to be eaten daily to provide their full effect. A one ounce serving is good for three days worth of full spectrum antioxidant protection from sulforaphane comparable to the best antioxidant supplements on the market. A box of sprouts contains four of these servings and retails for about 4 dollars.

Juicing is another good way to consume those vegetables you don’t like, particularly if you have digestive difficulties. You can add cruciferous vegetables to your vegetable juice recipes. One large stalk of broccoli makes only about an inch of power packed juice in a glass, so it doesn’t have a huge impact on the taste of the recipe.

Lets break some things down…

Stress. Within this word is Rest and have you found out that most problems are not as big you think. Problems are real, but stress just wants to keep you down. We can not have clarity when we are “stressed”.

Diet. No one wants to feel bad and have issues. Some of us have organs that do not function correctly which are out of our control and some of us do have a correctly functioning system. I don’t have answers why, but I do know that our bodies need nutrition…and joyful mindset is from above.

Prescription:
Take a vacation from stress…say cya to stress and hello to happiness, even if you have to dig it up…pursuit is good thing.

Do you think that there is a smoker somewhere that hasn’t been told the dangers of smoking? There seems to be a continual program in the press, TV and radio that expose the consequences from cigarette smoking. People still insist on smoking after watching or listening to these anti-smoking campaigns. It would be ignorant if you think that lung cancer only affects certain people with a genetic factor or those over 65 years of age.

Some people believe that you have to be a regular smoker to see the ill effects of smoking. But do you know that one cigarette can coat your lungs with dangerous substances for more than a month? So you can imagine how much damage can one pack of cigarette do to your body. When are you going to take side when you know that there are evidences that show the relationship between smoking and lung cancer? You may choose to ignore the fact but there is no reason why you have to remain ignorant. Nowadays you have all the resources to help you to learn about lung cancer. You can minimize the risk of lung cancer. Newest medications on lung cancer are being studied. With the evidence of health issues relating to smoking, it is clear that you just need common sense to steer away from smoking. However, in reality, it doesn’t happen that way. Many smokers continue to smoke until it’s too late for them to do anything for their health.

That attitude of “it won’t happen to me” may be the case with the majority of smokers. However, when they start treating the warning as a panic, maybe they will quit smoking. Despite all the warnings, some smokers refuse to take notice and fail to take heed of the warnings. I saw something once though that stopped me in my tracks; a person smoking a cigarette through a hole in their throat. So, you can see that there are some hard core smokers that can’t stop smoking. I hope you are not. Remember that by the time you are diagnosed with lung cancer, nothing much can be done. The doctors can’t reverse the damage which is inflicted by cigarette.

Evidence that shows smoking causes respiratory problems has been available for sometime. If you choose not to accept this fact, it may cost you your life. You just can’t be ignorant anymore. You can’t say you don’t know about lung cancer in this modern age because information on lung cancer is easily available to the public.

I would like to bring another point. Although you don’t smoke, but inhaling the smoke from other people’s cigarettes also put you at risk. We need to work toward a smoke-free environment, because all the rest of us are being inflicted by the second-hand smoke. Why not doing something good to your body and quit smoking while you still can.

Quitting smoking is hard. You may need more help than willpower. Final Smoke is a stop smoking program that helps smokers to overcome nicotine cravings. You should read the product report on FinalSmoke and see if it really works. Visit http://www.merchantbuster.com/quitsmoking/finalsmoke

Significant reassessment in recent years a of the nature and causes of cancer has taken place. Cancer was formerly believed to be a localized disease, characterized by a lesion, usually in the form of a growth, which appeared at some specific part of the body. This localized lesion was thought to be the result of an activity produced by an invading virus, carcinogenic agent, or some form of trauma.

Today, the conviction among researchers and physicians, which is a growing conviction is that cancer is a complex disease that is the end result of a disturbed metabolism (body chemistry).

It is an insidious disease that involves the entire body. The frequent reoccurrence of a malignancy after treatment with the conventional methods of surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy is because the basic underlying metabolic cause of the cancer is rarely considered and consequently remains uncorrected.

Amygdalin, or laetrile/B17, is a relatively simple compound found in much of our food supply. It is most abundant in the seeds of non-citrus fruits. Most commercially prepared amygdalin is extracted from the seeds of the apricot.

Amygdalin is composed of:

Two molecules of glucose (a sugar), One molecule of hydrocyanic acid (an anti-neoplastic compound),ane One molecule of benzaldehyde (an analgesic).

In metabolic therapy, the amygdalin is broken down into its component parts as a result of the action of the betaglucidase. This enzyme is found in abundance in cancer cells, and is relatively deficient in normal cells.

Consequently, the cyanide is released only where there is an active cancer lesion. This liberation of cyanide under controlled and safe conditions insures that an adequate dosage can be administered without the threat of toxic side effects.

This absence of cyanide toxicity is further insured by the action of the thodanese, another enzyme. This enzyme is present in large quantities in normal cells but in very small amounts in cancer cells.

Detoxification of cyanide occurs, therefore, in normal mammalian tissue through the action of this rhodanese which, in the presence of sulfer-bearing compounds, converts free cyanide to thiocyanate, a perfectly nontoxic compound. The thiocynate is excreted in the urine.

Slow drip infusion. The most efficacious mode of administration is through the slow-drip infusion technique which was developed in Tijuana, Mexico. It became apparent that the breakdown of amygdalin and its subsequent detoxification was very rapid.

If it were to be administered over a longer period of time, this could be overcome. In addition, the amygdalin must pass through many biological membranes in order to reach its site of action. This can be accomplished by combining the amygdalin with Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO-laboratory grade).

Finally, as vitamin C is known to slow the growth of tumors, it is added to allow the amygdalin and the rest of the metabolic therapy more time to work.

The amygdalin should be added just prior to injection to insure maximum potency. This complete infusion is administered intravenously over a 2 to 3 hour period.

More rapid administration can result in a localized burning sensation due to the large amounts of vitamin C. This infusion is administered daily over the first 21 days of metabolic therapy.

In some instances where the slow drip infusion is not practical, intravenous administration of amygdalin can be used. This method provides the same high concentration in the blood as the slow drip infusion. Three vials (3 grams each) are administered daily in a slow intravenous push, usually in the brachial vein just proximate to the elbow. Preferably this administration should be between meals. The intravenous administration should be daily for 21 days.

Oral Ingestion is the most convenient and most frequently used method of amygdalin administration. The patients leaving the clinic are placed on oral amygdalin. Also, because of the difficulty for some patients in going to the physician’s daily, many doctors prefer this method.

Normally for treamtment the tablet size is 500 milligrams (mg). Two of these tablets should be given 3 times a day. If patients have difficulty swallowing, the tablets may be broken up and added to soft food. The patient should take 1 tablet six times a day.

The preventive tablet size is 100mg. One or two tablets should be taken daily. This data is provided for informational purposes only by Cyto Pharma of Mexico. This company has been in the market since 1971 and are well known worldwide. They are the leader in the field of the amygdalin process and their research staff is constantly working to upgrade their products.

This is one way of an alternative cancer treatment protocol that is used by a number of naturopaths.

Joni Bell has many years of extensive study in the area of natural cancer prevention and treatment. He has numerous success stories of people being diagnosed living cancer free with use of alternative methods. Cancer Free

Around 44,500 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Although the exact cause is still unknown, we know that it begins when the breast tissues start to multiply in a rapid and uncontrolled way. The symptoms of this type of cancer are often difficult to identify but fortunately there are a number of tests your doctor can perform. In this article I will be discussing three of these tests.

1) PHYSICAL INSPECTION:- This is usually the first breast cancer test your doctor will perform. Although most lumps can be found during self examination there are certain abnormalities you may not notice. A trained doctor who has experience examining breasts for signs of cancer is much more likely to spot any of these abnormalities that you may have missed. If they do notice anything they will then be able to recommend further tests.

2) MAMMOGRAM:- This is an x-ray for the breasts. It is very useful for identifying any abnormalities in the breast such as lumps or calcium deposits. These abnormalities may turn out to be early signs of breast cancer so a mammogram is a good way to detect any early warning signs. However, it cannot be used to determine whether these abnormalities are cancerous so if your doctor does notice anything during the mammogram they may call you back for further testing.

3) FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION CYTOLOGY (FNAC):- This breast cancer test involves inserting a fine needle into any lumps or abnormalities that your doctor has discovered. They will then be able to to determine whether the lump contains fluid (and is therefore non-cancerous) or is solid (and therefore potentially cancerous). If the lump is solid the needle will allow your doctor to extract some of the cells for further examination under the microscope. This examination will then reveal whether or not the cells are cancerous.

Breast cancer is one of the most common types in the UK and can prove fatal if it is ignored. However, when identified early it is usually very treatable. If you notice anything different about your breasts then it is better to be safe than sorry. Go see your doctor and get yourself tested right away. It could be a crucial step towards combating this type of cancer.

Whilst every intention has been made to make this article accurate and informative, it is intended for general information only. Breast cancer is a very serious, life threatening condition and you should discuss any concerns, treatments or lifestyle changes fully with your doctor.

Breast cancer affects around 45,000 people in the UK each year. No one is sure exactly what causes this condition but it develops when cells in the breast start to multiply in a rapid and uncontrolled way. Although no one knows the exact cause there are number of factors that have been linked with prevention. In this article I will be discussing three tips that could help you prevent this nasty disease.

1) CONSUME LESS ALCOHOL:- A number of studies have suggested that drinking alcohol can increase your chances of getting this type of cancer. Cancer Research UK estimate that around 2,000 of the breast cancer cases reported in the UK each year are caused by alcohol. Multiple studies also suggest that the amount of alcohol consumed directly influences your likelihood of contracting this disease. Therefore, if you drink alcohol you are more at risk than a none drinker and if you are a heavy drinker then you are more at risk than a moderate drinker.

Now I am not suggesting that you completely alter your alcohol intake because there are other factors that influence breast cancer too. However, it could be a good idea to monitor your alcohol consumption for a week and see if there is anywhere you could make some cutbacks. Perhaps, instead of drinking a glass of wine with every evening meal you could alternate and have it every other night. Maybe instead of going for weekly drinks with friends you could go for a meal or to the cinema on alternate weeks. Small changes such as these could help you reduce your overall alcohol consumption.

2) EAT MORE HEALTHY FOODS:- A lot of researchers agree that a healthy diet is a key element of breast cancer prevention. In particular, trans fats have been linked with the development of this type of cancer. On the other hand fruits and vegetables are thought to lower your risk of contracting this disease because they contain cancer protective vitamins and phyto-chemicals.

If your diet contains a lot of processed or man made foods then you really need to cut down as these are normally loaded with trans fat. Also try to make sure you are eating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Like with alcohol, you don’t have to make significant changes to your diet right away. Instead, try to substitute one of the processed foods in your diet with a piece of fruit or veg every week. Before you know it your overall diet will have improved for the better and this could make the difference between contracting this type of cancer and not.

3) DO MORE EXERCISE:- Exercise is believed to help prevent this type of cancer. A study from Dr Michael Leitzmann that was published in the Journal of Breast Cancer Research [1] suggests that vigorous activity such as running, competitive sports and intense dancing could reduce your risk of contracting this disease. However, less intense exercise did not have the same effect. Therefore, if your current lifestyle is relatively inactive try and do some intense exercise two or three times per week. If you are stuck for ideas jogging, sprinting, skipping and team sports are all good choices.

Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the UK. However, by following the preventative tips discussed in this article you can hopefully avoid it. Reducing your alcohol consumption, improving your diet and becoming more active are positive lifestyle choices that everyone should make. Not only will you be improving your overall health but you could protect yourself from this cancer type of cancer too.

Whilst every intention has been made to make this article accurate and informative, it is intended for general information only. Breast cancer is a very serious, life threatening condition and you should discuss any concerns, treatments or lifestyle changes fully with your doctor.

If you are trying to stay healthy, you are probably trying to eat the right foods and exercise. Plus, you are probably doing everything you can to try not to get sick. You have likely heard that you can prevent cancer through the use of apricot seeds, so you have been giving that a try.

However, if you are like a small percentage of people, you may be having a problem with the apricot seeds stomach – upset and nausea. There are some people who simply cannot tolerate eating raw apricot seeds. These people and you may have tried all of the common suggestions, such as eating only a few seeds at a time, introducing the seeds with food on the stomach (or, conversely, without food on the stomach), and mixing the ground-up apricot seeds with food before eating them.

For a lot of people, these suggestions help but, for a small percentage of people, they don’t. These people have to stop eating the raw apricot seeds and instead must start taking vitamin B17 tablets. While this isn’t the preferred method of getting amygdalin into the body to prevent cancer (the raw source is always best), it will work.

How many seeds = 1 tablet?

When switching from taking apricot seeds to taking vitamin B17 tablets, it can get confusing trying to figure out how many tablets to take. After all, it isn’t as if one seed is equal to one tablet (that would be too easy, right?). So, you will have to do a little bit of math when you switch.

Here are the basics: Vitamin B17 tablet 100mg is roughly equal to 25 apricot seeds.

Vitamin B17 tablet 500mg is roughly equal to 125 apricot seeds.

So, what you will have to do is look at the number of apricot seeds you are currently eating per day and then do the math to figure out how many tablets of vitamin B17 that is equal to. You may need to purchase a pill-splitter so that you can cut the pills in half or in quarters as necessary. For example, if you need the equivalent of about 55 to 60 apricot seeds, you need about a half of a 500mg tablet.

If you have seen loved ones suffer through cancer, you know what a horrific ordeal it is. Even if your loved ones successfully fought the cancer and are now in remission, the battle took a great toll. After defeating cancer, it can take years for a person to get back into shape and to feel somewhere near “normal.”

This is probably why you are interested in preventing cancer, you either know someone who has gone through it, or maybe you just understand how traumatizing the disease can be. So, you are looking into vitamin B17 and apricot seeds in order to try to prevent yourself (and, perhaps, other loved ones) from getting cancer.

Vitamin B17 Tablets or Apricot Seeds, Which is Better?

It is generally accepted among most researchers in the field of amygdalin research (amygdalin is the active ingredient that actually works to prevent the cancer; it is also called laetrile) that the purest form of a substance has the most potential health benefits. In other words, the actual apricot seeds are actually the richest source of amygdalin; therefore, they have the potential to benefit people in greater ways.

This is actually true for any foods. For example, getting Vitamin C straight from a citrus fruit such as a grapefruit or an orange is much better than taking a Vitamin C tablet. The human body is better at metabolizing vitamins directly from food sources.
However, this doesn’t mean that you cannot take vitamin B17 tablets. After all, there are some people who are just unable to chew that apricot seeds, such as denture wearers, for example.

Additionally, some people may find apricot seeds to be too hard on their stomachs, whereas vitamin B17 tablets may be easier for them to tolerate. It is better to take the vitamin B17 tablets in these cases than to forgo taking any amygdalin at all.

You can, though, try to get creative if you seemingly cannot tolerate the raw seeds, try taking a little at a time or try adding them to a favorite breakfast cereal or smoothie recipe. Try other recipes, too!

Good news, research that was done over a four year period has revealed that the supplements vitamin D along with calcium can greatly reduce your risk of many types of cancer. The bad news is the American Cancer Society came out against it stating that no one should take supplements to prevent cancer. Go figure…

This really isn’t that surprising. The American Cancer Society has to many conflicts of interest with ties to big pharma, cancer equipment companies and corporations that profit from cancer. Cancer industry is big money so preventing cancer hits this wealthiest non-profit in America and others in the wallet.

The study took almost 1200 healthy women and divided them up into two groups. One was given calcium and vitamin D, the other was given placebo. Over the last three years, the first group that received the supplements, results showed an amazing over 75 percent cancer-risk reduction.

During the first year there was no significant difference in cancer incidence between the two groups, so it seems to show that taking these two supplements consistently over time can be effective in the prevention of cancer.

These results were achieved on what is considered to be a low dose of vitamin D and it is likely that high-grade calcium supplements were not used. Looking at it like this may mean and even greater number than over 75 percent by taking high-quality calcium and top-end vitamin D, such as from fish oil. Mix that in with a little sunlight exposure which helps our skin manufacture our own powerful vitamin D.

Just about everything we have been told about cancer by cancer institutions is simply not true. Billions of dollars have been poured into the cancer industry since the 1970′s when so many promises were made about curing cancer, but yet cancer rates are basically the same.

I look at these “cancer walks” and obviously the intent of those walking is good, but is the money generated really a search to prevent or cure cancer, or is it really just funding for some new drugs that can be patented and profit from cancer.

I am not making light of cancer and the fear it can bring if diagnosed. There needs to be some accountability within the cancer industry. Why is it that any cancer supplements or foods or herbs are always shot down? Naturopaths banned and forbidden to set up practice in the country?

Granted, there must be guidelines that do protect us from “quacks” who may want to administer some cure-all “magic elixer.” The cancer industry just seems to quick to oppose the fact that only manufactured drugs can be used, nothing natural is ever recommended. That may change if or when the only way to get vitamins is by prescription.

Here are our options according to conventional medicine… chemotherapy, radiation and other toxic methods intended to kill tumors, which are mere symptoms, not the cause. Chemo is like a poison, destroying immune function and can cause permanent damage to vital organs such as the heart, brain and to name a few.

In this case, ignorance is not bliss, but the FDA would want us to be. They will censor companies that dare mention anything to do with cancer prevention on their products. I’m going to let you in on some information, a heavy revelation. Raw apricot seeds, broccoli, garlic, onions, and sprouts all have powerful anti-cancer effects, as do many herbs around the world.

Cancer awareness means taking action in your own life to educate yourself and make changes where they need to be made. With the cancer industry as it is, it will be the same old story, don’t be bamboozled.
